The Backlog
So this new blog experiment has been interesting so far. Outwardly, this is only post number three (not counting the mysterious blank post that appeared for a while before I caught it), but I’ve currently got seven drafts in progress, none of which are anywhere close to being postable. I’m discovering that going from “basic idea” to something I feel good enough about posting isn’t just a matter of sitting down and typing for an hour. I’m developing a great deal of respect for people who write interesting posts on a daily basis.
I think maybe step one is getting better at avoiding “premature optimization” in what I write. A lot of ideas get edited out before they even make it into the first draft. Organizing all of my thoughts coherently and trimming the fat are secondary problems, but if everything gets cut right off the bat, there’s not a lot to work with.
I’m going to make a goal of producing at least one post per week and see how that goes.
