Pure Rockage
I pre-ordered not one but two copies of Guitar Hero 2 for the 360 yesterday. One of them is going to my brother-in-law to fulfill the I.O.U. I gave him for Christmas, and the other will live along side the copy I already own for PS2. I think it’s pretty safe to say that I’ve never bought three copies of the same game before, but for the truly hardcore Guitar Hero, they’re doing a pretty good job of (re-)selling the 360 version.
They’ve done the sorts of things you might expect, like “remastering” the graphics for HD, adding new tracks, and I’m always a sucker for achievement points. But the single biggest seller is definitely downloadable content.
If you believe the hype, it will be “more online content than anyone has ever seen in a game to this date.” Based on the extra content available to other games (with the possible exception of Oblivion), that’s probably not actually a hard record to break, but even the hint of the intimation of a possible rumour of song packs being released regularly on the Live Marketplace is enough for me to get my wallet out. Ironically, the rumoured tracks I’m most excited about aren’t even new tracks, but re-done tracks from the original Guitar Hero with the tweaked hammer-ons and pull-offs.
Less than a month to go, if GameSpot isn’t lying to me. I’ll try and write a review, but don’t be surprised if my fingers end up too blistered to type.
