Guitar Hero II +9

As hoped for, nine tracks from the original Guitar Hero were updated and released today for the 360 version of Guitar Hero II. There are three packs of three songs each:

  • “Bark at the Moon” – Ozzy Osbourne
  • “Hey You” – The Exies
  • “Ace Of Spades” – Motörhead
  • “Killer Queen” – Queen
  • “Take It Off” – The Donnas
  • “Frankenstein” – The Edgar Winter Group
  • “Higher Ground” – Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • “Infected” – Bad Religion
  • “Stellar” – Incubus

Each one goes for 500 Microsoft Bucks. I got all three because I’m a completionist, but I’m not sure whether those particular sets of songs will be especially exciting to more casual players. I’m hoping “Crossroads” makes an appearance soon.

The songs are noticeably less challenging with GH2′s revised hammer-ons and pull-offs. “Frankenstein” and its runs are downright simple now, though “Bark at the Moon”, while not quite as nasty as this, is still a challenge.

The new songs also include secondary parts (either rhythm guitar or bass) for the two player mode but, until we can get our hands on a second guitar, we can’t put them to good use.
